Parents, please take a few moments to speak with your children about bicycle and pedestrian safety, including: 1.) Always wear a properly fitted helmet when riding a bicycle, scooter, or other wheeled device. 2.) Obey traffic signs and signals. 3.) Be alert and watch for vehicles when entering roadways or crossing streets. 4.) Utilize marked crosswalks whenever possible. A huge thank you to the awesome Verner Elementary School Kindergarten class for inviting us out today to watch them show off their newly acquired bike-riding skills! What a nice turnout for today’s annual Verona-Oakmont Memorial Day Parade! The weather held out and turned into a beautiful day as the community came together to honor and remember the brave men and women who made the ultimate sacrifice for our country. Thank you to everyone who attended, participated, and helped make today’s event a success.

Mayor Dave Ricupero swore in our newest law enforcement members, Officer Morrow and Officer Rouda, on Tuesday, May 12th. Help us welcome them to the force and be sure to give them a wave next time you see them out on duty.

Today, March 10, 2026, at 6:57AM, the Verona Police Department responded to a report of a one vehicle accident that was to be over the hillside along Ridge Avenue. It was determined the operator was uninjured and was able to safely remove herself from the vehicle. Due to the location, it took some time to get the vehicle safely from the hillside. Thank you to Don Kuhn's Auto for assisting in getting the vehicle safely from the hillside.

The Verona Volunteer Fire Department and Verona Police Department proudly serve our community every day, and now you can show your support right from your front yard! We are offering “We Support Our Fire and Police Departments” yard signs for a $20 donation. Your support helps recognize the dedication and service of the men and women who work to keep Verona safe.

This week officers from the Verona Police Department had the awesome privilege of taking part of Read Across America. We were able to read to several classes at Verner Elementary during the week. Thank you to the Verner PTO for inviting us to take part.
